This project designed a modern mobile food app for ordering or finding recipes across multiple Asian cuisines (Thai, Japanese, etc.). The goal was to simplify visual discovery and the transaction process.
My Approach
The main goal was a fast and visually appealing app. The approach used high-quality food photography and prioritized streamlining core flows like browsing and ordering into the fewest taps possible.
Vision and Innovation
Vision – The vision was to create a fresh, intuitive food app.
Innovation – Innovation involved using a visual carousel navigation (for cuisine tabs) paired with a highly effective central search bar for quick shifts in browsing focus.
Final Design – The design uses a clean white background so food photos are the main focus.
Identifying Unique Challenges
Challenge – The challenge was organizing a large, diverse catalog across multiple cuisines without cluttering the screen.
Resolution – This was solved by using two layers of filtering: visual cuisine tabs and a powerful, dedicated search bar.
Resolving Complex Problems
Problem – The most complex problem was managing the app's dual purpose (ordering vs. cooking/recipes).
Solution – This was resolved by clearly displaying ratings and time estimates on the feed cards, letting the user instantly decide whether to order or cook.
User-Centric Design
The design prioritizes visual engagement and speed. Large food photos are the primary call-to-action.
Navigation relies on simple gestures (swiping cuisine tabs) for instant access to different foods.
